Taeyeob opened his eyes to the insistent sound of his phone alarm going off and shifted as much as he could in bed to pull one of his arms out of the covers, groping blindly at the bedside table with his hand until he finally came across his phone. Taeyeob picked it up and quickly brought it into his field of vision to turn off the damn alarm, sighing deeply the moment the room fell silent again. It was six in the morning and he really didn't feel like getting out of bed, where he was warm, to go out into the cold of the street... but it was Monday and he had to be in the office by eight, so, it wasn't something he could afford. Taeyeob closed his eyes for a few seconds, sighing again and yawning, before gathering enough energy to be able to get up; however, he had a big problem, a giant one in fact, that kept him imprisoned in place, a problem he had to deal with if he wanted to get out of bed to make his life outside. Not that he really wanted that life, but if he didn't go to the office he would be fired, and the only monthly money coming into the house was the money he was bringing in.

Taeyeob didn't like to disturb his boyfriend when he was sound asleep, he liked to disturb him when he was awake and could mess with him, to see him pout or slyly respond to all his comments with others, so the first thing he tried to do to get rid of the iron arms that kept him tied to the bed was to get rid of them. There were days when he managed to muster enough strength to escape from the bear hug in which he slept every night, sometimes it worked by simply pushing the older a little so that he himself would turn over in his sleep and let him free on his own, sometimes he had to use all his strength to lift the arm around him to slip away without waking him. However, though he tried both methods that morning, neither was effective and Taeyeob knew that the minutes were ticking away and the longer he stayed in bed, the less time he would have to get ready and get out of there. He had about an hour's ride on the underground, that was if he could get on the first train that came by, because at that time of the morning it was always packed to the rafters. The boy sighed again and finally decided that, even if he didn't like to do it, because he was sure he wouldn't have slept more than a couple of hours, he had to wake up his boyfriend.

"Kyubini," he murmured, brushing his shoulder with the hand he'd been able to pull out of his grip earlier to stop the alarm. "Kyubini... I have to get to work."

As always, Kyubin didn't move. He used to have insomnia, that's why he said that the night was much better for him to devote himself to his work, but when he fell asleep, he fell into such a slumber, that it was very difficult to wake him up, and Taeyeob really didn't like to disturb him in that state, when his face was totally calm, without wrinkles on his frown, with a half smile on his full lips... but he had to at least get him awake and aware enough to understand that all he needed from him was to stop hugging him and let him leave to get ready and go to work. Taeyeob tried several more times, whispering his name and moving him slightly, caressing his face and even holding his nose, but the latter only made the other snore loudly as he breathed through his mouth and Taeyeob finally had to pull out the last ace he had up his sleeve: kisses.

Waking Kyubin up with kisses was perhaps the most crass move he could make in a working day, because when the older woke up like that and looked at him with those eyes full of infinite affection and desire, Taeyeob's entire motor and nervous system failed him, his head stopped working as it should and his knees turned to jelly, even when he was lying on the mattress. However, this was his last resort and he would have to deal with the consequences of his actions because he couldnt afford to miss work in any way. So, despite everything, it was the only thing he could do and Taeyeob leaned over Kyubin to start leaving kisses on his nose, on his forehead, on his cheeks, on his chin, on his closed eyes, one after the other, deftly avoiding his lips so that it wouldn't escalate too much until he started to achieve his goal. It wasn't immediate, of course it wasn't, with Kyubin, in the mornings, nothing was immediate, but little by little, he began to stir in his sleep, each time sensing more and more what was happening in the real world, until finally, his eyelashes fluttered and his eyes opened, just a tiny slit, but enough to see Taeyeob on him, filling him with kisses and smiling.

"Good morning, sleeping beauty," Taeyeob murmured, this time leaving a short kiss on his lips before pulling away from him and dropping his head back onto the pillow. "I need you to let me out of bed, I have to get to work."

For a few moments, Kyubin simply watched him in complete silence, his eyes still only slightly open, his mouth quirking that precious smile that Taeyeob would kiss again and again if he had more time on his fingers, watched him as his brain finished waking up enough to understand what the boy before him was saying and when he finally did, he nodded and removed his arm from Taeyeob's waist, the one that had kept him firmly pressed against him all night, but not before leaning into him and trapping his lips in a warm good morning kiss that sent shivers through Taeyeob's entire body. When he pulled away from him and left him free to get out of bed, the boy found himself not wanting to leave, he knew he'd be a hell of a lot better off there, next to Kyubin, tucked in bed, than in the office listening to his boss scream straight as if a demon had possessed him, but he had to be strong and responsible and he had to earn money, so, after only a few seconds of hesitation, Taeyeob finally sat up and got out from under the covers.

"You don't have to get up too," he said to Kyubin, sitting on the edge of the bed as he slipped on his slippers. "Go back to sleep, you probably went to bed late last night because I didn't feel you come to bed."

He got a sort of low affirmative grunt in response. Kyubin was not one for many words when he was up, even if he was never quiet for a moment during the rest of the day. Taeyeob paused only a moment before beginning his day, climbing onto the bed on his knees to give Kyubin one last kiss, noting the older's smile against his mouth at the contact, and then he simply headed for the bathroom.

The good thing about living with his boyfriend for the past five years was that Taeyeob had eventually settled into a routine where their schedules were aligned to try to get in the way of each other's day-to-day lives as little as possible. After five years of living together, Taeyeob had learnt that in the mornings he could sleep a little longer or romp around for a few minutes in bed with his older if the latter wouldn't let him out of his bear hug if he set the alarm for six o'clock and took a shower in the evenings. That way he had a bit of time and it didn't slip through his fingers, so in the mornings all the boy had to do was wash his face, get dressed and comb his hair, while he let the coffee brew in the kitchen. He didn't need more than forty or forty-five minutes to do this in peace and quiet, to finish waking up until sleep finally left him while he got ready and went out into the street without forgetting to take anything. He had always been very absent-minded, in the first years in that job, when Taeyeob hadnt yet got used to anything, he used to leave behind his phone, his wallet, his briefcase, the papers he needed for the day and, on more than one and ten occasions, he had had to bother Kyubin to bring him what he had forgotten to take because he had left in a hurry. However, he was now a responsible person who left the house every morning spotless and, moreover, completely ready to start the day even if going to work itself did not excite him too much.

When he came out of the bathroom, his eyes free of the grime, feeling a little clearer after splashing himself with cold water to finish waking up, and with an empty bladder, he headed for the kitchen to put on his coffee. Before he reached the kitchen, however, he stopped in front of the open door to Kyubin's study, turning on the light and glancing inside to check that everything was as tidy as possible so that when the other got up and headed for the place he wouldn't trip over any of his materials and make a mess sometimes, he still had nightmares about the time the other had left a bottle of ink open on the desk that had spilled on him at night when he was going to sleep and he hadn't noticed, more asleep than anything else, and the horror of cleaning the ink off the furniture and the wooden floors. That day it was all right, the floor was clear at least, and on the desk he had different pots of inks, all closed, and several brushes in a glass of water, but far out of his range of movement when he sat there again to draw. Next to the desk he had a canvas on an easel, half-finished because, as he had told him that weekend, inspiration had suddenly faded and he didn't feel able to go near the canvas again, and in front of the closet doors, leaning against them were some other finished canvases that he’ll have to take away that week to sell. Everything seemed in order, despite the mess, so Taeyeob turned off the light and went out, closing the door, finally making his coffee, unable to stop his mind from wandering about Kyubin and his profession.

As he poured a few spoonfuls of ground coffee into the pot, filled it with water and put it on the machine, his mind wandered to how his boyfriend had decided to leave behind the comfortable life he had been leading to devote himself body and soul to painting. It hadn't been easy for either of them to adjust to the new situation, but they had enough savings and Taeyeob had a steady job, so they could move on without too much trouble, plus Kyubin had continued to maintain his contacts in high places, so that helped him quite a bit to carve out a small niche in the art world and his works sold well. It wasn't a constant source of money, as it was only a few times a year that his works were put up for sale or he organised a small exhibition of them and then put them up for auction, but the gamble had worked out well and the older seemed much happier since he had been painting than he had been in his years as an executive, despite the many creative blocks and sleepless nights.

The sound of the coffee pot telling him that his coffee was ready brought Taeyeob out of his thoughts and the boy poured it into a cup, adding a spoonful of sugar and some milk, stirring it slowly for a few moments before drinking it, walking to the living room window and watching the city below him covered in a thin layer of snow that would soon melt into ice, feeling the hot liquid go down his throat in a comforting way. When his coffee was gone, Taeyeob left the cup in the sink next to the pots and pans from the previous night's dinner and returned to the bathroom to brush his teeth. His morning routine ended with him going into the room he shared with Kyubin to get out of his warm pajamas and into his suit for the office. That day, he noticed as he entered that Kyubin had listened to him and was still on the bed, his eyes closed and breathing regularly, as if he was in a deep sleep, so Taeyeob tried to make as little noise as possible as he changed his clothes, he didn't have to open drawers or wardrobe doors because he had left everything out the night before, from his socks to his tie to his suit and shirt, so it wasn't too difficult to simply get dressed quietly until he was more or less ready.

Taeyeob looked in the standing mirror in front of him to fix with his fingers the unruly locks of hair that didn't quite fit the way he wanted them to because they were already longer than they should be and he hadn't yet found time to make an appointment at the hairdresser's. However, with a bit of patience and a bit of hairspray, the boy was finally satisfied with the result and sprayed a bit of perfume on his wrists and the base of his neck and then began to wrestle with the navy blue tie with some white stripes and some lighter blue stripes, which matched the simple navy blue suit he was wearing that day. He had never been very good with knots, so his ties always had the knot tied and he just had to loosen it and put it over his head before adjusting it around his neck, but that tie had been given to him by Kyubin for Christmas and he hadn't had a chance to put it on yet, something he wanted to start changing. However, even though he turned the fabric over several times, looking at himself in the mirror, as he had learned to do, his hands didn't seem to be getting any of the steps right that day and when it fell apart in his fingers, Taeyeob couldn't help but sigh in frustration every time.

It was probably those sighs of frustration in the stony silence of the room that caused Kyubin to finally wake up, rising from the bed and walking over to him, wrapping his arms around his back, his hands wrapped around his slender waist gently and lovingly, his nose sinking to the base of his neck to inhale the scent of his perfume. Taeyeob didn't realise he'd woken up until he was on top of him, but for once he didn't startle, just let himself be enveloped by the sudden warmth emanating from the older's body, letting his back rest against his broad chest for a few moments.

"You're going to be late if you keep fighting with the tie," Kyubin murmured, his voice even deeper than usual, taken by sleep, against his ear, sending a shiver down Taeyeob's spine. "Let me do it."

Taeyeob nodded his head slightly and put up no resistance as Kyubin turned him in his arms until they were face to face, with very little space between them, just enough for Kyubin to comfortably manoeuvre the knot in his tie. Taeyeob swallowed as he watched the man before him, completely focused on the fabric, moving the ends to one side and then the other to slowly begin to tie the knot, an expert at the task because he had spent too many years of his life tying his own ties before going out to work. Taeyeob's gaze drifted from his face, from his lips that were pouting slightly in concentration, to his hands, which were twisting and turning the fabric of the tie, then he looked around the room, unable to leave his eyes still on a single point. His heart was beating rapidly inside his chest, Kyubin's presence always made him nervous, having him just centimetres away, doing something as domestic for him as tying his tie, made him happy, but it also excited him to no end and Taeyeob didn't want to let it show all that the older man was provoking him at the moment, because if he did, if Kyubin noticed how he was holding his breath, there was a good chance he wouldn't let him go, that he'd take him back to the bed and strip him naked, leaving only his tie on, fucking him until Taeyeob's legs stopped holding him up, until neither of them could go any further. It wouldn't be the first time it had happened, nor would it be the last. On many occasions, while getting ready to go out, whether on a date or out with friends, they hadn't left the house in the end because something similar had happened, but Taeyeob couldn't let that happen, not when he had to be at work in just over an hour and had to take the underground.

"You're ready," Kyubin said, finishing adjusting the tie around his neck, fixing the collar of his shirt as well. "You're ready to take over the world."

Taeyeob looked up until his eyes met the older's, seeing in them a mixture of affection, pride and desire that left him breathless and his heart pounding even harder, feeling it even in his brain. The boy had to remind himself that he had to breathe and that he had to react to get to work, so, he gave Kyubin a grateful smile, murmuring even a "thank you" that barely echoed in the room because the other's lips crashed against his in a much more demanding kiss than the ones they had given each other that morning, a kiss that could jeopardize Taeyeob getting to the office on time, something he should care that didn't happen, but for a few moments he lost himself in that kiss, in the way Kyubin's large hands gripped his waist firmly and held him in place. Before it went any further, however, before they began to undress, eating each other, Taeyeob mustered all the willpower he needed to pull away from those lips that were taking him to paradise again and again, pulling away from Kyubin's body as well, wobbling a little as he did so and thankful that his boyfriend hadn't yet removed his hands from his waist because it helped him steady himself.

"I have to get to the office," he reminded Kyubin. "As much as I want to skip it and stay in bed with you all day, I have to go."

"I know," he replied, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. "I'd love nothing more than for you to stay with me, but I know you have to go and I can't stop you," Kyubin moved closer to him again to place a fond farewell kiss on his forehead. "Have a good day and let me know if anything happens," he said.

"I will," Taeyeob nodded. "Go back to sleep, get as much rest as you can."

Kyubin nodded as well and then let go of Taeyeob's waist. The boy smiled warmly at him before walking over to where he had left his phone after turning off the alarm that morning and then grabbed his briefcase and left the room, watching as his boyfriend climbed back into bed and curled up in the covers to try and catch up on sleep. Taeyeob looked at the time on his phone and bit his lower lip before running to the entrance and quickly putting on his shoes. He was running too tight for time and would have to pray to all the gods to catch the first train that came by or else he'd be late... but if it was inevitable that he would be a few minutes late for work, he would sneak off so that his boss wouldn't see him. This morning had been a little more eventful than usual, but Taeyeob wouldn't trade it for getting to the office on time.
